The normal value of fasting blood glucose ranges between 70 and 99 milligrams per deciliters (mg/dL) or less than 5.5 millimoles per liter (mmol/L). The normal value of post prandial blood glucose, 2 hours after eating, ranges between 70 and 145 mg/dL or less than 7.9 mmol/L. The normal value for a random blood glucose test should range between 70 and 125 mg/dL or less than 7.0 mmol/L. A person is said to be diabetic if the fasting blood glucose level is 126 mg/dL or higher on more than two occasions and the 2 hour oral glucose tolerance test value is 200 mg/dL or higher.
